Newman Regional Health is proud to celebrate National Athletic Training Month this March, recognizing the vital role athletic trainers play in ensuring the health and safety of athletes of all ages. This year, we are especially honored to highlight the exceptional contributions of our own Athletic Trainer, Justin Clark.

Since joining Newman Regional Health in September 2024, Justin Clark has quickly become an invaluable asset to our community, demonstrating unwavering dedication to the well-being of local high school and middle school athletes. His expertise and compassionate care have made a significant impact on the safety and performance of young athletes across the region.

Olpe High School cheerleader Makenna Hoelting’s experience demonstrates the impact of Justin Clark’s athletic training expertise in Lyon County. After a knee injury in February, Justin provided rapid assessment, facilitated quick imaging, and helped coordinate surgery with Dr. Jordan Willis within about a week. Following her surgery, there was seamless continuity of care with Newman Therapies for physical therapy. Makenna’s parents, Brad and Monica Hoelting, commented on the comfort Clark provided, “Justin was so helpful in coordinating the initial appointment after our daughter’s injury and he stayed involved throughout the entire process with the MRI, surgery, and physical therapy. It was nice to be able to have a familiar face. Makenna already knew him because he is very involved with the athletic program at our school.” Makenna added, “I was happy to have Justin there to figure out what was wrong and get started with the healing process so that I can cheer again as soon as possible.”

“Justin’s commitment to our student-athletes is truly commendable,” said Cathy Pimple, CEO of Newman Regional Health. “He has integrated into our community, providing expert injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation services. His presence on the sidelines and in the training room has given our athletes, coaches, and parents peace of mind, knowing they have access to top-notch care.”

Athletic Training Month, observed annually in March, aims to raise awareness about the critical role of athletic trainers in preventing injuries and ensuring safe participation in sports and physical activity. Justin Clark embodies the core values of this profession, demonstrating a proactive approach to athlete health and a dedication to providing timely and effective treatment.

“It’s an honor to serve the athletes of this community,” said Justin Clark. “I’m proud of the reputation our outreach and Sports Medicine program has achieved in the county.” Looking toward the future, Clark is hopeful, “I want every school in our area to have access to an athletic trainer and the support from our Ortho & Sports Medicine program. I hope to continue collaboration with ESU to expand opportunities for our area athletes, and to partner with our secondary schools to educate students about the orthopedic and sports medicine profession.”

Newman Regional Health is committed to providing comprehensive sports medicine services, and Justin Clark’s expertise is a key component of our dedication to athlete health. We encourage the community to join us in celebrating Athletic Training Month and recognizing the invaluable contributions of Justin Clark and all athletic trainers who work tirelessly to keep our athletes safe and healthy.
