Biography
Dr. Willis was born and raised in Kansas. He obtained his biology degree from Kansas State University after playing soccer at the collegiate level for Manhattan Christian College. He then attended University of Kansas school of medicine for medical school where he was the president of the Adler, Orthopedic society.
From there his training continued in Wichita, Kansas at University of Kansas Wichita orthopedic surgery residency. During his residency he received expert level hands on training in the fields of trauma, sports, and adult joint reconstruction with advanced training and use of robotic joint replacement. He also was trained at the world renown Shriners hospital in St. Louis in the field of pediatric orthopedics.
Dr. Willis’ sports experiences prior to and during residency inspired him to complete a sports medicine and shoulder and elbow fellowship at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, MS and Tulane University Sports Medicine Institute.
During his time in fellowship, along with his coverage responsibilities for various high schools in the area, Ole Miss University, Tulane University with Dr. Felix H. Savoie. He also had the opportunity to spend dedicated time focusing on total joint replacement of the hip and knee with the prestigious Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.
Whether it is on the sidelines, in the clinic, or in the operating room, Dr. Willis has a passion for taking care of patients in his community.
Dr. Willis very much enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife met at Kansas State University. They were married during medical school, and they are blessed with three children. With his family and friends his favorite activities include: playing and watching sports (Chiefs and Royals), hunting, fishing, volunteering at Kanakuk camps.
